This is the third year in a row that Miami Dade County has been hit with property taxes. The county collects property taxes on the property of residents, not on the income of the residents. The property tax is supposed to be used for road repairs, school construction, police and fire protection and other purposes. But the county has been collecting more than $30 million in property tax revenue in recent years, and it will likely continue to do so this year.
